Jazz Band

The Summit High School Jazz Ensemble is one of the most popular performance groups in the band program. Membership is by audition and is open to students who are concurrently enrolled in a Summit concert band.

Students explore a variety of jazz styles while developing musicianship, improvisation, and music theory skills. The ensemble performs throughout the spring semester at the annual Jazz Dinner Dance, local festivals, contests, and other special events across the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Made up of saxophones, trumpets, trombones, rhythm section, and percussion, the Jazz Ensemble provides students with a fun and challenging opportunity to expand their musical experience beyond the traditional concert band setting.
