The Summit High School Jaguar Band is the largest varsity organization on campus. Our success depends on every student being present, prepared, and participating. Every rehearsal builds on the last, and consistent attendance allows the entire ensemble to learn together, refine skills, and perform at the highest level.

Attendance Matters

Regular attendance at rehearsals and performances is expected. When students miss rehearsals, they not only miss important instruction, but it can also create safety concerns during marching rehearsals and impact the progress of the entire band.

Beginning with the start of the school year, unexcused absences and tardies will count toward performance eligibility in accordance with the band's attendance policies.

Reporting an Absence

We understand that emergencies and unexpected situations happen. If your student must miss a rehearsal or performance:

• Notify the Band Directors as soon as possible.

• Provide as much information as you can regarding the conflict so we can make informed decisions.

• For known conflicts, please provide at least two weeks' notice whenever possible.

Advance communication helps us plan rehearsals effectively and best support your student.

Check the Calendar First

Many attendance conflicts can be avoided by reviewing the band calendar regularly. The official calendar is available HERE and through the BAND app, where you can also subscribe to the Google Calendar and add it directly to your personal calendar.

Please check the calendar before scheduling appointments, vacations, or other activities.

Communication Expectations

Band directors are committed to supporting every student while also maintaining healthy time with their own families. Outside of band hours - including evenings and weekends -messages sent through the BAND app or email may not be seen until the next business day.

If you send a message after band hours, please understand that absence requests or conflicts may not be addressed until the following business day. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
