About the Mansfield Summit Band

The Summit Jaguar Marching Band has a long tradition of excellence, providing students with lifelong memories and friendships. In the Summit Jaguar Band, we teach students the importance of respecting one another, being responsible for our actions, trusting our team, grit, being a leader, being a well-rounded musician, and satisfaction through hard work and dedication. We make better humans through great performances.

Our students begin band in sixth grade at Cross Timbers Intermediate School, attending Howard and Wester Middle School for 7th and 8th grade. Our middle school directors coordinate a vertically-aligned curriculum that gets our students ready for the rigor of high school band. Our goal is to have a well-rounded curriculum that utilizes music to develop life-long learners by teaching work ethic, teamwork, and artistic appreciation.

The Summit Band has earned many distinctions, including consistent University Interscholastic League Sweepstakes Awards with Varsity, Non-Varsity, and Sub-Non Varsity Concert Bands, consistently high representation in our All-Region/Area/State contest process, was a TMEA Honor Band finalist in 2023, placing 9th in the state, and attended the Music for All National Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana as an invited ensemble in 2025.
